Who is Jim Martin anyway??...

Commissions have come from Rob Parton, the U.S. Airmen of Note, Univ. of WI/Milwaukee, Evanston Township HS, Lake County Community College, and numerous high school bands in the U.S.

  • Swing, swing, swing! Jim Martin's charts makes you do just that. All of the figures are just right. Jim Martin should emerge...as one of the bright new writers of our day.
Louis Bellson - legendary virtuoso drummer

  • ...but actually the brightest star falls on Jim Martin, who plays trombone and garners most of the attention for his crisp and unpredictable arrangements. He can be Basie-like (on "Dreamer of Dreams"), a big swinger (on Main St. News), or he can provide for a bit of fresh air for classics like "Laura" and Sentimental Journey".
Rick Teverbaugh - The Jazz Review

  • Jim Martin is truly one of the finest young writers around today. His sense of line and harmony are superb, not to mention his ability to make every chart sound great from beginning to end. He tells a story on every one! Jim's charts should be a welcome addition to any high school, college or professional band's repertoire.
    Frank Mantooth - Internationally-known Jazz pianist/composer/arranger/educator

  • I always enjoy Jim Martin's charts...whether I am performing them in the Rob Parton jazz Tech Big Band or with my own school band. I highly recommend Jim's charts to any school or professional band that needs interesting and challenging music to perform.
Brian Jacobi - 1995 Winner of Downbeat Magazine's Educator of the Year Award

  • Many thanks to Jim Martin for all of his very melodic compositions and clever arrangements!
Rob Parton - Top Chicago Trumpeter/band leader and Director of Jazz Studies at Roosevelt University

  • The best of the up-tempo pieces here...by Jim Martin are bright, clever, sometimes subtly ingenious, and always tight.
